Motivation - To bring out the best in employees

Routine work starts to boar after a short period of time. Only constant encouragement and motivation can make the work interesting for the employees. Constant monitoring of the employees and mentoring will help to bring out the best in them. The employees must be rewarded based on their performance. Different types of encouragement should be provided for different people depending on their needs.

For an employee at the lowest level who cannot afford his food, his basic needs must be ensured. Once his basic needs are ensured, he starts to look out for safety needs such as job permanency, insurance, health care, and more. Once he can afford for all his needs, only promotion and respect will motivate him to work further well.

While providing these kind of incentives, it is very important that you choose the best deserving. Some constant method of measurement must be followed and this method must be known to all. There should not be any partiality in selecting the person as the other employees would loose faith in the system and stop working towards perfection.

Once an employer learns to bring out the best from his employees, the productivity would increase, service quality would go up, customer satisfaction would increase and as a result the revenue would increase.

The General Motors

The GM motors have been leading the vechicle industry for more than seventy five years now. Their management policy was always referred to as the best and was bench marked by various other companies. It was every entreprenuer's dream to build a multi national company like the General Motors and it was every engineer's dream to get a job at the General Motors. They stood above all others and were the world leaders. They were the trade mark for good business and a good management policy.

The recent news about the General Motors has shackled all its previous said history. Its bankruptsy has come as quite a shock to all of us. The company with the greatest management policy is looking forward to fire twenty thousand employees and shut down fourteen of its factories and two of its warehouses.

What has now become of the General Motors is a great shock for everyone. Their bankruptcy has caused a great panic among the other companies. This has raised a serious doubt in the common mans mind of what would happen in the future. This has happened in a time when we were reassured that this economic backdrop was going to end.

All we can do now is hope for a better future and a more stable economy.

Honesty - The best policy

When it comes to business, this particular proverb has different meanings. One may not always agree that honesty would fetch more customers. In business you have to speak of your product as a mother would speak of her child. A mother would always say that her child is the best. Only this kind of advertisement will fetch more customers. One cannot openly agree the short comings of his product and expect people to come by and buy.

In this kind of situation it is best that you speak very much about your plus points and leave it unsaid about your shortcomings. In a competition, you always ought to highlight your superiority and advantage over your opponent. For this sake you cannot build up your own story. Obviously your story has to be based on facts. When you make up your own story, it might help in the starting, but in due course of time people will come to know about it and avoid your products completely. You might run the risk of earning customer dissatisfaction.

For example when you are manufacturing a low quality product than your opponent, you might be able to give it for lower cost. In that case you can only advertise that it is low in cost. You cannot say it to be of better quality or in that matter the same quality. The customers will come to know about it in due course of time and this would only develop anger among them. Hence it is very important that you remain reasonable with the customers at least to some extent.

Time management

Time is of great important to a good business man. Everybody is blessed with the same twenty four hours, but what really matters is how we utilise them. Great people stand where they are because they have utilised their time well.

It is very important to spend some time with the family. This relaxes your mind and keeps you fresh. Make clear distinction between family time and your work schedule. Spend some time every day for your health. Take a few hours of sleep. All these do not go for a waste. They make your work time more efficient by allowing your mind to work fresh.

The best way to save time would be not to repeat the same mistake twice. What is the point in repeating the same mistake more than once, when all it takes is consume time. Learn to do the most important jobs first and never postpone anything that you can finish it of today. Do not throw everything on your self. Ask for help and appoint the right people to do your job.

Your improvement depends on your work and your work depends on the amount of quality time you can spend doing it. Learn to use applications such as online banking, as these can save you a lot of time.

The business attitude

Would you ever like to go to a strange place or to a place where people dont treat you well? Would you ever put up if people do not give the respect you deserve? The answer would be a straight "no". This is the same with every other person. In business you have to understand this completely. It is very important that one makes his customer feel at ease when in his organisation. It must be fun for the customers to visit your organisation.

Few people look at everything and leave without making a single transaction. Treat these people well. When they want to buy something later, they will think of your kindness and come back to you. Your business depends on the number of people you know personally. Make a lot of friends in business. Treat each one as your family member.

While appointing some one to work in your organisation, make sure that he is good with people. These employees represent your organisation to the outside world and it is very important that they are well behaved and friendly.

People respond better to kindness than other business strategies. So try this out friends.

At the present scenario, almost all leading manufacturers have a sales outlet through the internet. This helps them with additional business in addition to the regular customers. This also serves as an advertisement to their main outlet. This helps the customers to know the price of the different articles before hand.

Shopping on a large scale

Did you ever wonder how a large manufacturer could give it at a lower cost when compared to a small scale manufacturer? Well, the secret lies in shopping for the raw materials. A large scale manufacturer would buy the raw materials on a large scale and this would get him more incentives. The raw material providers would treat these big customers with care and provide a lot of incentives and take extra care to provide them the raw materials in time.

But everyone cannot go in for a large scale shopping as this would require a large investment. Such huge investment might be difficult for small scale business men. Though this seems to be profitable one has to take in to account the fact that the cost of this raw material might fall down in a short period before you use it. In that case it would be a great risk for a small scale business men.

When you buy on a large scale and if the price of these raw materials go up, you have profit through discount and also the profit due to the improved cost of the raw materials. When you are running the business out of your own hands you can afford to take the risk. But when the business is run on loans, the risk would be too high.
